Terms of Service

Last updated August 9, 2026. Effective immediately for new users; material changes take effect for existing users as described in Changes to these terms.

Agreement to terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) constitute a legally binding agreement between you and rehome, Inc. (“rehome,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By creating an account, accessing, or using the rehome platform at rehome.build and my.rehome.build (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you do not agree to these Terms, do not create an account or use the Service. We reserve the right to modify these Terms as described in the “Changes to these terms” section below.

Definitions

These terms are used throughout this agreement.

Project. The renovation, addition, or construction work you plan, document, or carry out through the Service, together with the associated records, drawings, models, communications, submissions, and approvals.

rehome services. The services rehome provides directly: residential design where legally permitted, project planning, project coordination, documentation, permit preparation and management, and access to the rehome platform and workspace.

Licensed professional. An architect, structural or civil engineer, surveyor, energy consultant, or other professional who provides services under that professional's own license.

Outside professional. A licensed professional, specialist, or consultant who is not employed by rehome and who may be introduced, retained, or coordinated in connection with a project.

Professional services. Services that require a professional license and that are provided under the license, qualifications, responsible control, judgment, and applicable standard of care of the licensed professional performing them.

Contractor. The licensed general or specialty contractor who performs construction work under a written construction contract.

Project lead. The person at rehome who coordinates project information, workflow, communications, documentation, submissions, and the participants on your project. A project lead coordinates the process; a project lead does not exercise the professional judgment of a licensed professional or direct the contractor's construction work.

Description of services

rehome provides residential design, permitting, and project coordination. rehome helps you organize project information, evaluate possible project paths, design qualifying residential projects, prepare and coordinate documents, bring in licensed professionals when a project requires them, communicate with agencies and service providers, and manage the project through its applicable phases. The Service includes:

  • 3D home scanning (performed by GoMeasure, our scanning partner)
  • 3D model viewing and navigation
  • AI-powered rendering for design visualization
  • Component placement from a curated manufacturer product catalog
  • Product and material schedule generation
  • Design of qualifying residential projects by rehome's design team
  • Coordination of licensed professionals when a project requires them
  • Project coordination through a rehome project lead
  • Coordination of construction document preparation and permit submission
  • Community discussions and educational content (Build Guides)

rehome's design services. California law permits plans, drawings, and specifications for certain residential buildings, including single-family dwellings and multiple dwellings of no more than four units of woodframe construction not more than two stories and basement in height, to be prepared without a licensed architect. rehome's design team prepares design and permit drawings for projects that qualify. rehome is responsible for the design work it performs, and performs that work with the care and skill ordinarily used by design professionals providing comparable residential services.

Licensed professional services. Where a project, or any portion of a project, requires licensed architectural, engineering, energy, surveying, or other professional services, those services are provided by an appropriately licensed professional. The licensed professional performs that work under their own license and responsible control, signs and stamps the documents for which they are responsible, and remains responsible for their professional judgment.

rehome does not offer or provide architectural services under its own name or business, and does not describe its own services as architectural or engineering services. Where such services are required, they are identified as the services of the licensed professional providing them.

Construction. Construction is performed by a licensed contractor under a separate written construction contract. The contractor is responsible for construction pricing, labor, subcontractors, scheduling, jobsite safety, workmanship, and construction means and methods.

How responsibilities are divided. rehome is responsible for the rehome services described in these Terms and your project scope. Each licensed professional is responsible for the professional services within that professional's scope. The contractor is responsible for construction.

rehome currently serves the Sacramento, California metropolitan area. Service availability in other locations is subject to expansion. The address verification feature on our website indicates whether we serve your area.

Eligibility & accounts

Age requirement. You must be at least eighteen (18) years old to create an account and use the Service.

Account responsibility. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify rehome immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

One account per person. Each individual may maintain only one account. Accounts are non-transferable.

Accurate information. You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during registration and to update your information as needed.

Suspension and termination. rehome may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms or fraudulent activity, with or without notice. Discretionary termination for other reasons is described in the Termination section and includes thirty (30) days notice.

Third-party services

rehome integrates with third-party services to deliver parts of the platform. By using these services through rehome, you agree to the applicable third-party terms.

GoMeasure (3D scanning). 3D scanning is performed by GoMeasure, an independent scanning service. By booking a scan, you authorize GoMeasure technicians to access your property and represent that you have the legal authority to grant that access. Scan scheduling and data handling are subject to GoMeasure's terms and practices.

AI rendering providers. AI renders are generated by third-party services. Render quality, accuracy, and availability are subject to provider capabilities. rehome does not guarantee specific rendering outcomes.

Outside professionals. Licensed professionals and contractors engaged from outside rehome are independent third parties with their own terms, licensing, and insurance. See the “Working with professionals” section for details.

rehome is not responsible for the performance, availability, or practices of third-party services. Links to third-party websites are provided for convenience and do not constitute endorsement.

Self-design tools & component placement

The Service provides self-design tools that allow you to:

  • Navigate your 3D model (orbit, pan, zoom) and generate AI renders from any viewport
  • Place real manufacturer products (appliances, cabinets, fixtures, furniture, and materials) from rehome's curated product catalog into your model
  • Generate product and material schedules based on items placed in your model
  • Share your model, renders, and schedules with other users or external parties

Product catalog. The products available in the catalog reflect real manufacturer offerings. However, product placement within the 3D model is for visualization and planning purposes. Final product specifications, availability, and pricing should be confirmed with manufacturers or your professional team during the design and construction phases.

Catalog updates. rehome may add, remove, or modify products in the catalog at any time without notice.

Working with professionals

When a project requires licensed expertise beyond rehome's design and coordination scope, rehome brings in the appropriate licensed professional. This may include architects, structural engineers, civil engineers, Title 24 consultants, mechanical and electrical engineers, surveyors, and general and specialty contractors.

Your relationship with rehome. Your primary agreement and point of contact for rehome's services are with rehome. Certain licensed professional or construction services may be governed by a separate agreement between you and the applicable provider. When you authorize rehome in writing, rehome may execute and manage that agreement on your behalf as your authorized project representative. Your project lead coordinates project information, communication, project milestones, decisions, and deliverables throughout.

When we bring in a professional. rehome may identify, introduce, retain, recommend, or coordinate a licensed professional when their experience, license, or professional judgment may benefit your project, or may be required by law, an approving agency, or the agreed project scope. This may include architects, engineers, surveyors, energy consultants, contractors, preservation specialists, attorneys, and other consultants.

Status of outside professionals. An outside professional is an independent contractor. Unless expressly stated in a written agreement, outside professionals are not employees, partners, joint venturers, agents, or representatives of rehome, and rehome does not control their professional judgment. They may participate in a rehome-coordinated project and use the rehome workspace, and they maintain their own professional licenses, insurance, and business operations.

How professionals are engaged. A licensed professional is ordinarily retained by rehome. In limited cases, a professional may instead be retained by you with rehome acting as your authorized project representative. A written engagement or project authorization will identify the professional, their role and scope, the basis of compensation, and who is retaining them. Where an engagement is signed on your behalf, rehome signs as your authorized project representative and will provide you a copy. In every case, rehome remains your primary point of contact.

Professionals retained by rehome. When rehome retains an outside professional as part of the services included in your project scope, your agreement and payment obligation remain with rehome, and rehome remains responsible for delivering the services and deliverables promised in your project agreement. The professional remains responsible for the licensed services, instruments of service, and professional judgment within their written scope. The professional's compensation is governed by their agreement with rehome; the professional does not bid to you or invoice you.

Professionals retained by you. In limited cases, a professional may be retained by you under a separate agreement, with rehome acting as your authorized project representative as described above. That professional is then responsible directly to you for the services identified in that agreement, and rehome remains responsible only for the coordination services included in rehome's scope.

Limited authority. rehome may sign an engagement on your behalf only after you approve the professional, scope, compensation, and authority in writing. Unless separately authorized by you in writing, rehome may not materially change a professional's scope or fees, approve construction change orders, settle claims, or commit you to additional services or expenses.

Responsibility. Licensed professional services are performed under the direction and responsible control of the professional providing them, and that professional remains responsible for their work and professional judgment within their agreed scope. rehome is responsible for the design, planning, coordination, documentation, and permit services it provides. rehome does not guarantee the availability of any professional or the outcome of any agency review, permit decision, or inspection.

What rehome will do. For the services included in your project scope, rehome will: assign a project lead as your point of contact; maintain your project workspace and project record; prepare and organize the project documents within rehome's scope; identify when a licensed professional is needed and bring in an appropriate professional; provide project participants the information reasonably necessary for their work; prepare and submit the permit package and track agency review; relay agency comments and coordinate the responses; and keep you informed of project status and decisions that need your approval. Timeframes depend on your responses, the participants on your project, and agency review, none of which rehome controls.

Construction. Construction work is performed by a licensed contractor under a written construction contract between you and that contractor that complies with applicable law. rehome will act as the contractor only if rehome holds the active contractor license required for the work and enters into a separate written construction agreement that complies with applicable law.

What rehome does during construction. Unless rehome is identified as the licensed contractor in a separate construction agreement, rehome's role during construction is limited to maintaining your project workspace and records, keeping the approved documents and project decisions organized, relaying communication and questions between you and the project participants, and coordinating responses from the appropriate licensed professional. rehome does not supervise, direct, or control the contractor, construction means and methods, sequencing, jobsite safety, labor, subcontractors, or the quality of construction work, and does not handle construction payments unless a separate written agreement says otherwise.

Project lead. rehome assigns a project lead to coordinate the workflow: project information, communication, project milestones and meetings, documentation, submissions, agency review, and the participants on your project. The project lead coordinates the process. The project lead does not exercise the professional judgment of a licensed professional, does not direct construction work, and is not a substitute for the licensed professional or contractor responsible for a given scope.

Concerns and disputes. Questions or concerns should first be raised with your rehome project lead. rehome will coordinate the response and work toward resolution. Formal disputes are governed by the dispute resolution provisions of these Terms and, where applicable, the separate agreement with the professional or contractor involved.

Licensing and insurance. Each licensed professional and contractor is responsible for holding and maintaining the licenses, registrations, and insurance required for their work. Before bringing an outside professional or contractor onto a project, rehome may confirm license status, insurance coverage, and relevant experience using information available to rehome at that time. That review reflects the information available when it is performed. It is not a continuing verification, a guarantee of any professional's qualifications, and not a warranty of their work.

Project preparation & professional review

rehome may collect facts, research applicable requirements, prepare drawings or other documents when legally permitted, organize the project record, develop meeting materials, identify issues, and prepare proposed responses or strategies for review by the project team.

Independent review. A licensed professional may rely on project information assembled by rehome as a starting point, but remains responsible for independently reviewing the information reasonably necessary for that professional's assigned services, identifying any additional information needed, and forming the professional's own opinions. The professional may accept, revise, supplement, or reject a proposed position prepared by rehome.

rehome's research, coordination, drafting, or administrative assistance does not transfer a licensed professional's judgment to rehome, and does not prevent that professional from using staff, consultants, or project information in accordance with applicable law and professional standards.

Meetings, agency communications & project representation

At your request, rehome and one or more licensed professionals may attend meetings and communicate with planning departments, building departments, design review staff, preservation staff, public agencies, contractors, consultants, or other project participants.

Who participates in what capacity. rehome may participate as the project lead or as your authorized project representative for coordination, factual background, project history, documentation, project milestones and meetings, permit management, and the design work within rehome's scope. A licensed professional may participate for matters within that professional's assigned scope, and may present independent professional opinions or recommendations.

Participation does not create responsible control. A licensed professional's review of project information, attendance at a meeting, or participation in an agency discussion does not, by itself, make that professional the architect of record, engineer of record, designer of the entire project, or the person in responsible control of documents prepared by others. Any such responsibility must be expressly accepted in writing and, where applicable, shown by the professional's signature and stamp on the documents for which the professional accepts responsibility.

No required positions. Neither rehome nor a licensed professional is required to adopt a position, representation, drawing, analysis, or recommendation that the party does not independently believe is accurate, supportable, or within its assigned scope.

Your decisions. You retain control over material project decisions, including whether to bring in a licensed professional, accept a recommendation, authorize a revision, submit an application, select a contractor, or proceed with construction.

Agency feedback is not a final determination. Comments, preliminary feedback, interpretations, and requests made by agency personnel may change and may not constitute a final agency determination. Neither rehome nor a licensed professional guarantees permit approval, design approval, agency acceptance, processing time, construction cost, contractor performance, or any particular project outcome.

Responsibility for separate services

rehome is responsible for the services rehome provides, including the design work rehome performs. Each licensed professional is responsible for that professional's own professional services. The contractor is responsible for construction.

To the extent permitted by law, rehome is not responsible for an outside professional's or contractor's acts, omissions, professional opinions, instruments of service, licensing obligations, or performance. An outside professional is not responsible for rehome's services, or for documents and decisions outside that professional's written scope.

Nothing in these Terms limits a responsibility that applicable law does not permit a party to disclaim.

Authority to coordinate & share project information

You authorize rehome to communicate with, and provide relevant project information to, licensed professionals, agencies, contractors, consultants, and other project participants as reasonably necessary to evaluate, coordinate, review, submit, or perform the project services, or to prepare a construction bid. This authorization covers plans, models, photographs, property information, agency correspondence, your instructions, meeting materials, and other information associated with your project, and is subject to our Privacy Policy. This authorization covers information sharing and communication only; any authority for rehome to execute an engagement on your behalf is granted separately, as described in Working with professionals.

Limiting the authorization. You may ask us to withhold particular information, as described in the Privacy Policy. Withholding information may limit a professional's ability to evaluate or perform services, or a contractor's ability to prepare a construction bid. Information already submitted to a public agency or incorporated into a professional's own records may not be retractable.

Your representations. You represent that you have the authority to provide the information and materials you supply to rehome, and to authorize their use for the project.

Construction documents & permitting

When you approve your design through the project workspace's design review tools, rehome coordinates the production of construction documents and permit submission:

  • Construction documents include design and permit drawings, structural engineering (if applicable), Title 24 energy compliance (California), and related documentation.
  • rehome handles submission to the applicable city or county permitting authority and tracks review status.
  • Engineering changes during the permit review process may require design modifications, which may affect project scope and cost.

No guarantee of approval. rehome does not guarantee that permits will be approved or that the review process will be completed within any specific timeframe. Permit timelines are determined by the local jurisdiction.

Not every project requires permits. Cosmetic updates such as painting, flooring replacement, countertop changes, and fixture swaps generally do not require permits. Projects involving structural changes, electrical work, plumbing modifications, additions, or ADUs typically do. rehome will advise on permit requirements as part of the project process.

Ownership & intellectual property

What you own. You retain ownership of exported project outputs, including:

  • Exported PDF documents, plans, and drawings
  • Downloaded AI renders
  • Exported product and material schedules
  • Any files you export or download from the platform

You may download, print, share, and use your exported project materials with any professional, contractor, or third party of your choosing.

Professional instruments of service. Plans, drawings, and other instruments of service prepared by a licensed professional are subject to the ownership and use terms of that professional's engagement, which may reserve rights to the professional as required or permitted by law.

Warranty disclaimers

These disclaimers apply to the rehome platform and the self-service tools described in these Terms. They do not disclaim rehome's responsibility for the design, coordination, documentation, and permit services rehome agrees to provide for your project, which are governed by the standard of care described in the Description of services and by your project scope.

THE PLATFORM AND SELF-SERVICE TOOLS ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, REHOME DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES AS TO THE PLATFORM AND THOSE TOOLS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

REHOME DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS. REHOME DOES NOT WARRANT THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR RELIABILITY OF THIRD-PARTY CONTENT, PROPERTY DATA, OR CATALOG INFORMATION MADE AVAILABLE THROUGH THE PLATFORM.

AI-GENERATED RENDERS ARE APPROXIMATIONS AND VISUALIZATIONS. THEY DO NOT GUARANTEE THE FINAL APPEARANCE, COST, OR FEASIBILITY OF ANY DESIGN, MATERIAL, OR CONSTRUCTION OUTCOME, AND MAY DIFFER FROM FINAL MATERIALS, DIMENSIONS, CONSTRUCTION, AND FINISHED CONDITIONS. RENDERS AND PRODUCT PLACEMENTS YOU CREATE WITH THE SELF-SERVICE TOOLS ARE DESIGN AIDS. THEY ARE NOT CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS, NOT ENGINEERING, AND NOT A SUBSTITUTE FOR THE DRAWINGS PREPARED FOR YOUR PROJECT.

Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL REHOME, ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, OR AFFILIATES BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF GOODWILL, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, OR ANY OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE SERVICE.

REHOME'S TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE TOTAL AMOUNT YOU PAID TO REHOME FOR THE PROJECT PHASE GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM, OR (B) FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS ($500).

THESE LIMITATIONS APPLY TO ALL CLAIMS, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STRICT LIABILITY, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, EVEN IF REHOME HAS BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. In such jurisdictions, rehome's liability shall be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless rehome, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from and against claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) to the extent they arise out of:

  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any applicable law or regulation
  • Your violation of any third-party right, including intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights
  • Content you post, upload, or share through the Service, including Discussions
  • Information or materials you provide for the project that you did not have the right to provide, or that are materially inaccurate
  • Work you direct to proceed against the written recommendation of rehome or a licensed professional on the project

This indemnity does not apply to claims arising from rehome's own negligence, willful misconduct, or breach of these Terms, or to a dispute about the services or work product of rehome, a licensed professional, or a contractor. Responsibility for those matters is determined under the applicable agreement and applicable law.

rehome may participate in the defense of a matter subject to indemnification with counsel of its choosing. rehome will not settle a claim in a way that imposes an obligation on you without your consent, which you will not unreasonably withhold. You agree to cooperate with the defense of such claims.

Dispute resolution

Informal resolution. Before initiating formal proceedings, you agree to contact rehome at legal@rehome.build and attempt to resolve any dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days.

Binding arbitration. If informal resolution is unsuccessful, any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall be resolved by binding arbitration administered by JAMS under its Comprehensive Arbitration Rules and Procedures, held in Sacramento, California.

Class action waiver. YOU AGREE THAT ANY DISPUTE RESOLUTION PROCEEDINGS WILL BE CONDUCTED ONLY ON AN INDIVIDUAL BASIS AND NOT IN A CLASS, CONSOLIDATED, OR REPRESENTATIVE ACTION. YOU WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO PARTICIPATE IN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT OR CLASS-WIDE ARBITRATION.

Small claims exception. Either party may bring an individual action in small claims court in Sacramento County, California, provided the claim falls within the court's jurisdictional limits.

Attorneys' fees. Each party shall bear its own attorneys' fees and costs, except where applicable law or a controlling written agreement authorizes an award of fees or costs, or where the arbitrator determines that a claim was frivolous. Nothing in these Terms limits any nonwaivable statutory remedy.

Termination

By you. You may close your account at any time by contacting support@rehome.build.

By rehome. rehome may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these Terms, fraudulent activity, or at our discretion with thirty (30) days notice.

Effect of termination. Upon termination:

  • You will have thirty (30) days to export your project data (renders, documents, schedules, and other downloadable files).
  • After the export period, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy retention schedule.
  • Active professional engagements will be honored through the current project phase.

Sections that by their nature should survive termination, including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and dispute resolution, shall survive.

General provisions

Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, that provision shall be enforced to the maximum extent permissible, and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

Entire agreement. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any project-specific agreements, authorizations, or engagements entered into for your project, constitute the entire agreement between you and rehome regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements, understandings, and communications. If these Terms conflict with a project-specific agreement, professional engagement, or construction contract, that agreement controls for its subject matter.

No waiver. The failure of rehome to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. A waiver of any term shall not be deemed a waiver of any other term.

Force majeure. rehome shall not be liable for any delay or failure to perform resulting from causes beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to natural disasters, pandemics, government actions, labor disputes, infrastructure failures, internet outages, or acts of terrorism.

Assignment. rehome may assign or transfer these Terms, in whole or in part, without restriction. You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these Terms without rehome's prior written consent.

Notices. rehome may provide notices to you via email to the address associated with your account, in-app notifications, or by posting on the Service. Notices to rehome should be sent to legal@rehome.build.

Governing law. These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

Changes to these terms. rehome may modify these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify account holders by email at least thirty (30) days before the changes take effect and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Non-material changes, such as formatting or clarifications that do not alter the substance, may be made without prior notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
